At Inscape Journeys, we believe that travel can and should be more than a journey through scenic landscapes or cultural landmarks. Every trip we design is intentionally crafted to connect travelers with Bhutan's people, traditions, and natural environment in meaningful ways.
Through our close partnership with the Bhutan Mindfulness Center (BMC), each journey contributes to a larger mission: uplifting communities, advancing inclusive education, empowering youth, preserving Bhutanese cultural and spiritual heritage, and protecting the natural environment that sustains it all.
Our initiatives ensure tourism becomes a force for good, benefiting people, communities, and ecosystems alike. We focus on sustainable development, social inclusion, environmental stewardship, and mindful engagement.
By supporting projects that serve children with special needs, strengthen rural livelihoods, restore natural ecosystems, and safeguard cultural identity, we create experiences that foster empathy, reflection, and genuine connection. Every journey with Inscape Journeys becomes a shared path of discovery and contribution, where exploration enriches the soul and responsibility becomes part of the adventure.
In partnership with the Bhutan Mindfulness Center, Inscape Journeys supports a range of initiatives that demonstrate how mindful tourism can create lasting impact. These projects respond to real community and environmental needs, particularly in inclusive education for children with special needs, youth empowerment, rural livelihood development, ecological restoration, and cultural preservation, ensuring that every intervention strengthens both individuals and communities.
By choosing to travel with us, guests become part of this mission, contributing directly to projects that uplift lives, restore balance with nature, and transform tourism into a force for sustainable change.
Every project we undertake — from inclusive classrooms in schools like Changkhang, Khuruthanga, and Drukgyel — is executed under the dedicated stewardship of our partner NGO.

Inclusive Café & Vocational Training Support
Changangkha Middle School, Bhutan's first dedicated SEN (Special Education Needs) school, lacked adequate facilities to help students with special needs build practical life skills and confidence.
With support from the Bhutan Mindfulness Center, the school received new vocational-classroom equipment and the establishment of "Inclusive Bites," an on-campus café fully operated by SEN students.
The café now serves as a hands-on learning environment where students practice hospitality, communication, responsibility, and financial literacy. Beyond skill-building, it promotes visibility, dignity, and daily interaction between SEN students and the wider school community, strengthening inclusion in a powerful, everyday way.

Accessible Toilet Initiative
Drukgyel School, home to over 500 students including many with special needs, previously had no accessible toilet facilities. SEN students were forced to rely on an outdoor porta-potty that was unsafe, unhygienic, and undignified.
Through BMC's support, four fully accessible, disability-friendly toilets were constructed on campus. This essential upgrade has transformed the daily school experience for students with physical and developmental disabilities - giving them safety, independence, and a sense of belonging.
The improvement has also encouraged more families with disabled children to enroll, strengthening the long-term future of inclusive education in the region.

Two New SEN Classrooms
Khuruthang Middle School previously operated with only one small, inadequate classroom for its special-needs students. With support from BMC, the school now has two fully equipped SEN classrooms, designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children with disabilities.
These new learning spaces provide room for individualized instruction, group activities, sensory development, and vocational learning. The expansion has enabled more students with disabilities to attend school regularly and participate meaningfully, replacing exclusion with dignity, stability, and opportunity.
This project marks a significant step forward for inclusive education in the Punakha region.
Ongoing Environmental Initiative
As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, we support the Tree Plantation & Ecological Preservation Program, an ongoing initiative dedicated to restoring forests, conserving biodiversity, and strengthening ecosystems across Bhutan.
This program focuses on planting native tree species in areas affected by deforestation, land degradation, or environmental stress, helping to revive natural ecosystems, protect wildlife habitats, and reinforce Bhutan's position as one of the world's few carbon-negative countries.
Through this ongoing program, every journey helps plant roots for the future—honoring Bhutan's sacred bond with nature and ensuring its landscapes remain vibrant for generations to come.
SEN Unit Furnishing, Accessibility & Learning Enhancement Initiative
Tsangkha Central School, located 24 km from Trongsa Dzong, has been providing inclusive education since 2016 and currently supports 29 SEN learners, including 13 with severe learning and behavioral needs.
Despite the dedication of eight SEN teachers, the school faces significant challenges: classrooms are poorly furnished and temporarily partitioned, the sensory integration room is incomplete, and student and teacher spaces lack essential furniture, soft mats, safety padding, and learning materials.
Goals:
Upcoming SEN Classroom Expansion & Accessibility Improvements
Samtengang Primary School is one of the few schools in the Wangduephodrang district that accommodates children with disabilities, yet its current facilities are far from sufficient.
To address this growing need, BMC is preparing to fund and support the construction of four new SEN classrooms, along with essential accessibility upgrades throughout the campus.
When completed, the project will stand as a major step toward expanding inclusive education in rural Bhutan - ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, receives the dignity, support, and opportunity they deserve.
At Inscape Journeys, every trip is designed with intention. Your travel experience directly supports meaningful initiatives that uplift communities, protect culture, and create opportunities across Bhutan.
A portion of revenue from every trip funds inclusive classrooms, SEN facilities, and vocational programs.
Direct economic benefits for local guides, homestays, artisans, and farmers from every journey.
Engaging travelers in social realities and inviting participation in positive change rather than passive observation.
Aligning operations with cultural preservation and ensuring our presence strengthens traditions and protects nature.
Our initiatives are grounded in compassion, dignity, and long-lasting community benefit. These projects are not temporary solutions - they are investments in Bhutan's social, cultural, and future.
They restore dignity and inclusion for children with disabilities, giving them access to the education, support, and safety every child deserves.
They uplift rural and underserved communities, creating economic opportunities where they are needed most.
They safeguard Bhutan's cultural heritage, ensuring that traditions, stories, crafts, and spiritual wisdom continue to thrive amid rapid modernization.
They protect forests, ecosystems, and Bhutan's sacred relationship with nature, promoting ecological balance and long-term environmental resilience.
They create pathways for young people, offering meaningful work, skills development, and hopeful futures within Bhutan.
They reimagine tourism as a partnership, where every journey supports lives, strengthens communities, and nurtures empathy and connection.
These are not just projects - they are a reflection of our purpose. With every traveler we welcome, we help write a new chapter of positive change in Bhutan.
