A short yet deeply rewarding high-altitude botanical paradise winding through the Paro and Haa Valleys via Chele La (3,780m), Bhutan's highest motorable pass. Trek historic mule tracks marked by ancient chortens, traverse alpine meadows ablaze with rhododendrons, primulas, alpine roses, and the elusive Blue Poppy in season. Enjoy panoramic views of Kanchenjunga, Jomolhari, Kang Bum, and Tiger Mountain while passing through yak herders' seasonal camps.
Drive from Paro to Dawakha village trailhead. Trek 6km (4-5 hours) ascending through meadows with wildflowers and grazing yaks. Forest thickens into dense firs, rhododendrons, and junipers. Reach Tsendu La (3,850m), a treeless peak with stunning panoramic views. Descend to peaceful saddle campsite (3,590m) with rolling meadows and prayer flags. Camps are carefully chosen for their beauty beside alpine lakes, under the watch of ancient glaciers, or in sweeping highland pastures and meadows.
Trek 10km (5-6 hours) along gentle ridge to Dongle La Pass (3,565m), marked by ancient two-legged chorten on historic mule track connecting Paro and Haa. Sweeping Himalayan views and blue poppies in season. Ascend through thick forest to expansive Pangka La meadows above treeline (3,965m) with rhododendrons, primulas, alpine roses, and asters. Every pass crossed and every valley descended carries a cultural story that deepens your experience far beyond the trail.
Trek 8.5km (5-6 hours) descending along yak trail past herders' seasonal camps. Brief climb to Dzongle La (3,565m), another historic mule track. Continue along ridge through wide alpine meadows with prayer flags to Chele La Pass (3,780m), Bhutan's highest motorable point with panoramic Himalayan views. Descend past yak herders' camps to road. Drive 2 hours to Paro. Camps are carefully chosen for their beauty beside alpine lakes, under the watch of ancient glaciers, or in sweeping highland pastures and meadows.
